hey im working on a friends compt for him, and i have to clean it up (its a mess)
and i dl zone alarm, and i lost my internet after i dl it. i then restarted his compt and the internet worked, so i dl spybot, and i was going to download adaware, when i lost my internet again

can any one help me?

his compt is windows xp home
 
You said you lost your internet at some point after downloading zone alarm. That program may be disbling your internet connection, make sure its not blocking the connection and that it is set up properly. Otherwise, just disble it entirely and see if that helps.
