Windows / Linux HDD

My linux server has gone squit, and I want to upload my website from the HDD on this linux server to a hosted site.

To do this I need to put the HDD into my windows PC to upload the files.

Is there any compatibility issues with doing this?

Thanks in advance!

Thanks for that - are all linux platforms incompatible then?

How would I know which file system my Linux was using? The linux server is dead so cannot find out that way. It was running a very old version of Debian I think - although not 100% sure what.

If you have Linux on a VFAT partition then windows should be able to read it but the others ext2/3/etc wont work without some extra software to read it. It doesn't matter what type of linux you have, they all can use the same filesystems.

No it wouldn't hurt to try it, just don't format/repartition it if you see it as an unrecognized or damaged partition in windows.

What happened to Bender?

Listen to Cromewell, he knows his stuff.

I'd offer more help, but I haven't dabbled too deep into Linux yet...
