I just reformatted my pc and it seems that everytime i open windows media player to play something the whole computer just basically freezes up. Like eveyrthing is laggy and all. Also i just tried wathcing a video that used windows media player online and same thing i had to exit out and it says not responding i think.

How do other players work? Maybe try something like Media Player Classic and see if it's related to Windows Media Player or simply the video overlay software. Other options may be to try new drivers or DirectX
