Windows Media Player Help

I downloaded a video file. When I try to play it on Windows Media Player 10, it pauses a lot. If I play on Winamp, it works fine. What should I do?

Windows Media Player has always been fun with video files. The main reason is simply not having the right codec for the type of file you are trying to play. And it's a party trying to locate those at times. If Winamp is working well you have one player to use. Cyberlink's PowerDVD is another player that stands out for defying WMP in providing a player for a large variety of file types seen on video cds as well as dvd formats. But to have a better grasp on codecs and file types supported by WMP10 review the Microsoft article here. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/howto/articles/codecs.aspx

The file I am trying to play is WMV. The file works but stops a lot. Also, when I try to play the hi-res version of the file, neither Winamp or WMP works well.
