has anyone had the problem where no sound plays from wmp? i tried reinstalling it. and this is only for videos. however video sound does play on winamp. any suggestions?

you saying if you play music, like an mp3 in wmp you can hear it? Otherwise go into the properties for wmp and check that your sound device is enabled, and that the correct device is selected (on board sound, sound card, etc.)

yes that is true. how do you go about looking for the sound device in wmp? i couldnt find it

i think he means check in tools>options>devices and then make sure your speakers are there along with your optical drive and display.

If not then you need to enable them.

Well, there is that option as well, thats choosing a sound device for your computer. However, the media player should also have those prefrences, for a sound device. In wmp, go to tools/ options/ devices/ speakers/ properties
