Windows Media Player (Videos)

I'm having a bit of trouble with some downloads. More specifically, videos (via Windows Media Player). Before, I had the picture and sound. Now, whenever I play a video, I only get the sound with a blank screen/picture. I'm supposing it has something to do with the codex (?), but I'm unsure how to proceed (to fix this problem). Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated; much obliged.

Try to turn down your acceleration:

1. In Windows Media Player, on the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Performance tab.

2. In Video acceleration, move the slider to turn down or turn off video acceleration.

Ah, I figured out the problem (with my codecs), so I downloaded a codec packet; thank you for your help though. It's much appreciated.
