Windows Media Player won't allow media sharing

I am using XP and have been trying to get my media to share to my xbox 360 and at first the system said I had an ip address issue, even though I could connect to the internet. Now however, it won't find the pc. Upon going to Window Media Player's library/media sharing section, I am prompted with this message: Media sharing has been turned off because a required Windows setting or component has changed. I have tried all of the obvious quick fixes and nothing works, does anyone have any suggestions as Microsoft is less than helpful telling me something, somewhere has changed? Thank you.
 
is your XBOX 360 connected to the same network to the computer??? If so, how is it connected?? Router???
 
I have also checked in the C:/documents/username/applicationdata/microsoft/media player to delete the files like so many have suggested, but there is nothing inside.
