Windows not detecting 2nd hard drive?

Hey guys, I just finished building my new computer :D :D everything is working great for the most part but I have a problem. I have two hard drives, one 150 GB 10,000 RPM raptor which I formatted and installed Windows 64bit on, and one 500 GB 7,200 RPM seagate that I havnt formatted for storage. When I open up my computer, the 500 GB seagate is not listed. How can I not only get the 500GB HD to show up, but also use it to put files in?

open control panel, administrative tools, computer management, disk management and find disk1 and format it :)
 
Ok I've got to where you described, Disk 1 is the 500 GB HD, but how do I format? All I can do is right click and make it into a partition. Do I do that THEN format it? Let me know thanks a bunch for the help :)
 
Formatting takes space, but 35 GB does seem like a bit too much.. You sure you have the entire arera in the partition?
