Windows because thats all ive realy used and im more familiar with.
I only occasionly use a Linux live distro.

No offence but a pretty pointless pole. It's obvious that the majority use and prefer Windows.

Die hard Linux fan here who converted over a year ago. Nothing could tempt me back, I'm not a big gamer but if I was I'd get an Xbox360 and plug a keyboard & mouse into it.

I use linux. Its great. Gaming on linux is better then on windows (i think) because you get better fps. Why? I dont know, but it works out better for me somehow. Linux all the way!

well for games, and for some development ,we can use Windows (XP usually)
but for security, and other related things
Linux is more better
currently I am using the KUBUNTU Distribution which is based on Debian

If your a gamer, and play a wide variety of games, Windows is pretty much your only option.

I also like the Windows GUI, but thats probably just because im used to it :P

If i could get windows games to play on linux then i would switch over,I heard you can play a few windows game using some software in linux but i dont have the slightest idea how i would get it to work.

Just get wine. It is fairly easy and there are a ton of how tos. Most games just work right out of the box, but others need patches applied to wine. Just download the patch files, extract into wines source code, compile and install.

Hmm so what would i do about games that use Punkbuster?

Like warrock for example...People have tried playing warrock on linux and Punkbuster kicks them all the time.

Im thinking about Dual booting Ubuntu with Xp on the same hard drive.

re : win or linux

I vote for Windows because you can't really play that many games on Linux but I do have both Windows and Linux. :)

hey u guys u got it all wrong.Linux have CROSSOVERoffice for running windows software and TRANSGAMING CEDEGA for running games such as GTA:SA,UNREAL etc..dont think linux is flat headed guys..if u want my opinion i'll go LINUX i've quit from windows and it has been 3 months now.....experience may not be the same, software may not be the samem and u may not administer linux like u do with windows..Linux is all about learning as u go along...look at me i started with suse im still using suse to this very day.(while i try other distro in VMWARE)..u may even get vmware on linux....see opinions differ -- i may be wrong here but its your choice to choose where u wannan go...FREEDOM or go to jail (MS)

Linux. It's free, both ways.

Not Windows. It isn't free. It's made by a monopolistic company who are out to destroy all competition.

Windows because I'd get into compatibility problems with lots of people if I use Linux. Plus the variety of software available.

Also, I've had very bad experiences with Linux in my school's computer lab. But I think it's mostly the fault of the crappy computers at my school XD

I've been using Linux over a year and never had a compatibility problem. Think you might have hold of some misinformation.

Linux is a nice operating system, and is stable.. but it is much more complicated to use than windows, and there is always the compatibility issues.

For these two reasons, i prefer windows.
