Windows or Mac??

wheres the anything but mac or windows option.... or maybe even a "open" option

I like windows b/c it is spoken whereever you go, you can get help, find tons of hardware and software, Don't listen to those ad's on tv where one guy is a mac and the other guy is a pc, that only applies to ppl who let their PCs get really infected, which still could happen to a mac if they were as popular as windows and malware was written for them. . Mac may be better ? who knows ? I just fix what there is more of. The us government has windows all the businesses i go to have windows. The machine shops have windows driven cnc machines. The labs have windows, About the only place i see any macs are some in print shops.

There is no perfect OS, they all have their caveats. I voted for Mac only because the options given were vague and I am assuming you meant latest OS from each of them.
Also, to all you gamers, EA and id both announced at the WWDC (world wide developers conference) that they are now going to publish all video games for both mac and windows platforms at the same time now. They are going to start a trend and most companies will follow. Gaming on a Mac will become more and more available very soon. Apple is also the only company that is really selling laptops at the moment, no one else is really selling them as much as Apple is. Which is why apple bumped up all the standard RAM in their laptops to 2gigs now. So, every macbook pro you buy from them comes standard with 2gig of RAM. Don't even worry about DX10 either because apple has an answer to that as well, its called core animation. They are basically the same thing, they are both sets of APIs that devs can use to code their 3D and OpenGL stuff.

Windows vs. Mac is a stupid debate.
I think APPLE should abandon their MAC os, and partner with Microsoft, and release the apples WITH windows as their primary o/s.
Apple hardware + Microsoft o/s = damn good computer. and we'll no longer have to have these stupid polls.
But to compare windows to mac is a moot debate, as the hardware that the mac o/s is available to is restricted, to ensure a regulated experience while using it, where there is a much larger range of hardware, and influences that can effect the experience any 1 user has while using windows.

Well if you are going to be a smug smart ass about it, I am pretty sure I probably know a bit more than you and I own a Macbook pro and it is the best damned laptop I have ever owned.

like i said, this comparison cannot be discussed, as apple hardware, and the mac software automatically get lumped together
i'll be the first to praise apple computers, but am far from a fan of their operating system (although i don't care for vista either) nor do i believe in restricting the use of their operating system to their own hardware.

I've only ever tried windows but when i get chance I'm gonna try and boot MAC onto my PC: http://www.osx86project.org/
