Windows Password Login Possibly Disabled by Malware

Help!!

I have Windows Security Essentials installed on my mini Dell Inspirion computer which is equipped with Windows 7 Starter. Last night it detected some malware installed so I did a full scan which took about 4 hours.

Once done, it asked me to restart my computer to fully clean everything. After the restart, the login screen appeared, but would not let me type anything into the box to let me log in and get to my desktop.

I suspect the malware has blocked me from doing this. If so, what can I do to fix this situation and will I need another computer to do this?

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

reboot then F8 during the boot process. the option will be there.
tap it while rebooting. safe mode will come up.

either read the screen during boot process. or just keep tapping and waiting for option to start in windows safe mode or dos mode. its there. try reading the screen during the boot process. its there.

Are you using a usb keyboard or a ps/2 type? Tapping the F8 button after the bios screen should get you into safe mode options. If not, and using a usb keyboard its possible you don't have usb keyboard enabled in the bios. If you have access to ps/2 type use it instead to change bios option.

Thanks guys.

I am now in safe mode, but I am still unable to type in my password in the login box. What should I do now?

thats why you need a backup profile. Being logged in can you create another with admin rights. I my self have 3 or 4. log into the other delete mine that would not work. and log into the new. they do get corrupted.

Hi Tremmor.

I apologize for my lack of computer knowledge. Once I get to safe mode, how do I create another profile to log into and cancel the original one?

I don't know. Thats why we have JohnB and many others to answer. I don't know how to log in if you can't. Wait for another reply.

Ok, in this situation I don't see the harm in giving the member help. Visit this site to download a program to make a bootable cd to clear out your users password.

I use this program to clear passwords that my clients can't remember. If you have any questions on how to do it, reply back.
