windows root system32 hal.dll

Hi, my name is travis this is probably a very simple problem. I have a sony vaio and an error occurs when ever i try to turn on my labtop. now from what ive seen i need the windows disk to fix it but i dont have one and dont wanna buy one. how would i go about putting it on A disk to boot up my computer with the disk and repair the errors? and is there an easier way to fix the error?

3: You could try contacting Sony to get a repair disc.
 
Try contacting Sony to see if you can get a recovery disc. Might be like $15 but better than buying another copy of XP.
