windows skins??

Hi, i've heard that you can get 'skins' for windows that make it look completely different - like they change the shape of the start button, and just completely graphically overhaul windows... where do i find these skins, and how do i use them? are they just advanced themes?
 
you can download windowblinds or stylexp.... it is a skinning program that skins the entire windows environment. you download the program and then you download different skins that you load into the program. go to download.com and search for widnowblinds, and then go to wincustomize.org for skins. there are lots
 
i just had a look - its only free to try, so that probably means i'm gonna have popups coming up all the time or only have 30 days to use it... is there a free way to do it?
 
well, you could pirate it.. but i wont talk about that. you actually can use it for as long as you want, but every tiem you open the program it asks if you want to upgrade, and the only thing it doesnt skin is the scrollbar, which isnt much of a drawback
 
thats not too bad... but i'd go mad with a popup asking me to upgrade every time i turn on my computer! i suppose its not really worth it

hey.. but you just did..:P

You can download visual styles. You will need a tool call ThemePatcher to make them work though. It's free. And you will have to follow instructions to make ThemePatcher work because its not an install and use type of tool.

Google for them.
