Hi,

Does anyone know where i can get some good windows themes? For free?

You know like the ones you download and just click on its icon and its added in the Display Properties?Instead of having third party software to use it?

I hate windows blinds & stuff.
I prefer to just get the theme and add it to windows.

Thanks

StyleXP is a good app.

Yeah but i find these slow my machine down at boot.
I like to have minimal programs starting at launch and thats why i realy dont want third party software.

I did once see a site which had free windows themes and you just download em and its added to the Display properties box but i cant remember the site :(

Most windows theme usually can't just be clicked and placed into the system. You'll either have a third party do it, or use a patcher to patch the file into your system so it knows it's there. If you want something that isn't using programs and such, go to www.crystalxp.net and download some of the bricopacks.

They aren't programs, but rather they replace all the existing files and such. They look pretty good, but I will say that they replace almost everything from the logins, wallpaper, icons, explorer layout, and possibly add one or two 3rd party tools (which adds to the them like an objectdock, winRoll, etc.).

Hey computerhakk you're wrong there. You dont really need stylexp or WindowBlind and so on.You can use the "uxtheme" patcher. This is all over the net. It's pacthes a file in windows that is use for themes to allow all types of msstyles and vs.I'm not using any program.Ok so at first i was using stlyeXP but then i heard about this and i downloded it.Works like charm.I was going to upload it but it's 540KB.So email me if you want it...or go to "www.softpedia.net" and get it.
I uploaded a picture of my desktop progz.NO programs like WB and SXP.

PEACE

Hey patrickv you're wrong there. No where did I say that Stylexp or Windowblinds was needed. Unless you misunderstood me completely or had no idea what I was saying, you basically just said the same thing I just said.

Like I said, most files will not just be drag and drop into the theme selection. You'll either have to patch it, in that case uxtheme patcher or a third party (which is where you may have misunderstood me).

So now, to answer the answer more directly.. you will either have to take the files and patch them up, or use something like a bricopack from crstalxp.net and replace all existing files (which I would prefer because it replaces everything making the theme more unique).

Bricopacks are lame dude. They slow down your system like hell.I used all the vista and longhorn but i wasn't satisfied.Just lame i used the icon patch for icons only so visual styles for me is free no need to worry.1-2 and 3.As simple as that. Unlike the bricopacks you gonna have to wait so many minutes...
like duh !

im trying to what patrickv has said but i cannot get it to work :( i download the them but i dont really know where to put the file, i looked at what it says but its confusing. any tips?
