I'm trying to do some simple file sharing with Mac and Windows. I want to get a few windows files to my mac. My mac has found my windows computer, but it asks me for the computer's password... where can I find this, and what is it??

PLEASE HELP!

this is the message i get ...
"SMB/CIFS File System Authentication
----
Enter the Workgroup or domain name and your username and password to acces the server " (server name)"
----------
Can I also just connect teh two computer with USB and transfer files like that??

I'll actually boot my mac if I can't figure this out.

You can't just find the password. Obviously it's rather hidden for security reasons. However, you can change your password. If you have XP Pro, you can right click on my computer, MANAGE, then users and groups. I'd change both your administrator and whatever user you're signed in as.

If you're using XP Home, I beleive that's Control Panel, and then users.

If this doesn't work, I'll boot my mac up and try to find out exactly what's up :P Also, I assume you're using OS-X?

OK, I don't know what else to tell you(assuming you still can't get it working) I just booted my mac. Under Network it found my desktop. I double clicked it and it asked for my Workgroup(entered) username(entered, but might of been from the mac) and password. My guess is you're using the wrong username so your desktop isn't letting the mac in.

Unless you changed it, I beleive the administrator user name is active and shouldn't have a password assigned to it. Try loging in using that.
