Windows update causing crashes

I just did a clean install of Vista Business on my Dell vostro 1500 (Because Dell conveniently forgot to add a complete restore option) and everything goes swimmingly until I install the mountain of automatic updates that are available. The copy of Vista is over a year old and there are 73 available updates...when I install them everything is fine until I restart, then it says Configuring Updates, BSOD (super fast, can't even read) keeps restarting until I hard boot it and then it works fine again until i want to restart. If I post the enormous list of updates can someone tell me which are bad, or am I safe to not install any? I'm not about to go through 73 updates one by one restarting lol.

I don't know how to tell, the updates are all generically named with some numbers next to them. My computer just took the liberty of installing the first 30 before I knew, and it's still running so I might just go through 5 at a time and install them, whenever I get to the bad group I'll just restore...not the optimal way but what can I do, Microsoft is such a dissapointment.
