For about the 3rd time in the last month, I have dl'd the lastest Windows Genuine Advantage.. No problem since I have legit OS. But now my firewall is asking for permission for WGA to access the internet....LOL I just said NO..... Why does Bill Have the right to explore my comp? I thought that was illegal.

Your firewall's asking your permission for the Windows Genuine Advantage to check with it's server to see if you have a valid CD key, it's not exploring your computer.

I know that!!!! But why should my comp need to phone Bill? I have a legit OS. It just erks me that Billy wants my comp to phone home.

It's not phoning home, it's just comparing it with Microsoft's list of valid CD Keys. There no way for it to know if you have a valid OS unless it checks with it's database. And everything is automated, it's not like bill's getting a phone call asking if your computer is valid.

Because if it didn't then how would it know you're running a legit os?!?!

Because I don't need Billy in my bedroom!!!! It is all BIG BROTHER. I am legit I just don't need to prove it everytime I boot up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank GOD for a firewall. I just hate having to prove I have a legit copy on every boot.!!!!

Well if you accepted the first time, it wouldnt keep asking you. And your going to need to validate your computer if you want any updates or new Microsoft software.

I dont know why your taking this personally, almost all new software you use sends information to their servers. Norton also has to be activated, so it's sending information to Norton's server.

I have no nag messages etc... I have a legit cd. I just hate the fact that now it wants to phone home on every boot!!!!! To me that is spying!!!!! I have no right to see what you have .... Why should Bill?

Fair enough if you want somebody looking at your computer without your knowledge because you havn't got the latest updates thats fine.

I have all the updates, cuz I have a legal OS. I just hate that it wants to phone home..just like ET!!! Let Billy pay for some of my internet access fees if he wants my comp to phone home. By the way I am laughing at how riled up some of you are.

It's not phoning home, it's sending bits of data over the internet. And the amount of data it send is extremely small.

I just dont see why your so uptight about letting Microsoft check to see if you have a valid OS or not. If it's valid, then theres no reason you wouldnt want to let it connect to Microsoft.

I am only mad because he seems to think that all of us are guilty until proven innocent!!!
Well, the majority of people out there do own a pirated version of Windows..., mainly in countries such as China.

I BOUGHT that OS!!!!! I am not renting it. If he wants to feel that he OWNS it AFTER i PAYED for it, I will get another OS.
