Windows Updates

I cant remember if this applies to Microsoft or not, but when you buy software your actually paying for the license, you dont actually own the software. I remember reading that in an article about why you cant copy CD's or something...

I have back ups of everything I have just incase it gets into a meeting with my cats claws.

Feel free to try another OS, however the thing Microsoft has is that it's compatible with alot more software than Linux and Mac's combined. So if you play alot of games, or work wil alot of software, your most likely going to need Windows.

And why do you keep saying "phone home"? As i said before, it's sending a few bits of data to Microsoft's server, and varifying your CD-Key. Everything is automated and doesnt put any spyware on your computer.
