windows upgrades asks for administrator?

Hi,
I'm on my desktop pc and im the owner, the only one who uses it most of the time.
I'm pretty sure I'm set as the administartor but sometomes when I try certain things on my pc windows says I need to be the administrator.
The big problem right now is that I went to microsoftupdate and when i tried to use it, it said you must be logged in as the admin.

How can I solve this?
Also will an update solve my Internet Explorer frequent crashes upon executing the browser?

In Windows Vista there are some applications that require Elevated permissions. Like running most apps from the Command Prompt. Right click the .EXE file that you want to run and choose "Run as Administrator".
If your IE7 is crashing, open IE Tools/Internet Options/Advanced Tab/Reset Internet Explorers Settings/Reset button. If that doesn't work, try updating to IE8.
