Hello all, I'm new to the forum. :)

Does anyone else have the blues waiting for Vista to come out so that you can build a comp? I know that I am certainly counting the days.

im gonna stay with XP 4 a while, i see no reason 2 upgrade windows, just because it's a new release. SP3 4 XP's being released like 4 hrs. after Vista is lol, soo i heard.

not trying to rubbish your plans or anything but ever wondered what the impications are for installing a brand new OS, bugs, security holes, vulnerabilities.... i wouldnt have said it wise to FULLY adopt a new OS unless its been in the public domain over 4-5 months for testing/patch release.

And i take it you know about features like DRM being native and stnadard...

it doesnt have the raid drivers for my raid so i'm staying with xp and use vmware to play around with it.

It just seems to me that now would be a poor time to build an expensive comp. I just kind of want to kind of "play it safe" with all these new releases. :P

as if you never wanted to build one?

Taking jumps to a next level always involved risks and what not.. Do athelets become #1 by doing training that will only get the to 3rd place? They train harder and make more sacrifices.

So if you want a vista compatible machine.. then of course you'll have to shell out more $$$ and more time understanding vista and how it works with all it's new features so you can buy the right hardware to do the job.

Not to burst your bubble or anything, but if you want Vista your going to need to get a new computer (from the looks of you sig). Vista's system requirements are incredibly high, and to get it running smoothly your going to need even more than that.

800mhz, 512mb ram is minimum
And that is barely running...
exactly, at those mminimum specs the fluidity will be completely lost and most graphical enhancemensts that vista prides itself upon will no longer be available. Not only is it graphically challengin but the incorporation of a sidebar, along with widgets and a hell of a lot more processing calculations to do, it will start to strain even the mid-high end chips at time (within reason, im pretty sure anythign above an X2 3500+ will be smooth as a babies bum...)

The way I see it is, what is the point in spending money on building this awesome machine that is able to run Vista, when, from viewing the site, it seems that the biggest difference between vista and xp is design! Personally, I think that XP looks fine as it is and if people don't like there are unlimited websites and programs available which allow one to change the designs! the one thing about Vista that does impress me is the fact it is apparently built with Windows Media Player 11, however it is possible to download that from the microsoft website, so thats what I did, I'm not bothered about vista however I'd be interested in finding out what SP3 has to offer!!! if anyone knows.
