Hello!

Ok so I just bought Vista: Home premium upgrade today. I currently have windows XP and I was wondering do I have to uninstall everything and start over when I change to vista? also is there a certain time limit in which you have to install vista...because i might have to wait a few months to install it. is it time senisitive?

thanks!

As long as it's an upgrade, all your programs and such should be retained. Still, I'd make backups and everything because I've seen so many upgrades fail. Honestly, I all but refuse to do an upgrade unless it's right after a fresh install.

As for being time sensitive, I see no reason why it would be. Perhaps someone else can vouch that, but I'd suspect it'd last forever and be fine to re-upgrade if you reload the machine.

whats the difference between windows vista: home premium and the upgrade? because i just bought the "upgraded" version. Is that the whole windows vista: home premium? also
Im running windows XP currently and just upgrading to vista, so I have to clear my system before installtion?

An upgrade should upgrade from a previous version of Windows (like XP) instead of doing a fresh install as far as I know. In other words it should keep you files... even so you should do a backup of your important files. An upgrade could fail as The_Other_One said and you'd loose your files.

If I were you I would backup everything and do a Full install. I have heard people having problems after an upgrade.
