Windows Vista Isn't Too Fast

I just purchased a new PC that had Windows Vista pre-installed with it.

For a PC with Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 processor, 2GB of RAM, and two RAID 350GB 7200rpm hard drives set up, I don't think the operating system is that fast. :o

My single 2.2ghz Intel Celeron PC loads Windows XP almost 4 times faster than Windows Vista on my new computer. :o

I want to get the 64-bit version of Vista, but is it any faster?
Any good explanations of why the operating system for me is so slow?

probably just all the crap they loaded on the drives already. vista is much faster... and looks like you're running pc2 4200...

My Vista startup times are incredibly fast. And Vista is very pretty too. I'm not a gamer so it was a no brainer for me. I'd like to see some comparisons in framerates between the two OS's though.

His mobo wouldn't support DDR2 800, now would it? And you don't have a Q6600 as stated above, you have an E6600. Your graphics card is a 7500LE and it doesn't say those HDD are RAID 0. You just got ripped off for a harshly bottlenecked PC, I don't mean any offense by this and if you take that way, sorry. I am not ridiculing you, rather HP for selling their crap by the processor and not full specs. Ahh:rolleyes:, Marketing schemes.....

Do you have integrated video? That may be a cause to the slowness of the PC.

Windows XP boots up faster for me, but when i'm using the OS, XP is A LOT faster then Vista.

Good reviews.

Good comparison to the Q6600:

Not exactly which one can be called "better" though. Is it still not 4 processors in one? It is Core 2 Duo

lol i know, i think there was a thread on that!.... i think its suppose to mean 2nd generation or somthing dumb like that...no sure though :P

Yea thats messed up, at least when the new AMDs come out they will be Phenom X2 and X4, but there numbers system isnt any better, there might be like a Phenom X4 7100 and it going to like a 2.2 ghz. we,ll have to figure whats what all over again:confused:

I thought this PC had 4! I thought any Core 2 Duo was 4...

2x Duo

Duo means 2!

Why would they have 2 2 duo
That means 4!

What a damned marketing scheme!
It's called a Core "2" Duo because this is the second generation of the Core architecture.

It's a dual core, hence the word "Duo". If it was a quad, it would be called a Core 2 Quad.
