Windows Vista? Longhorn? Server 2008

Can someone clear me up on this. I have done some research and i can't seem to understand what happened while vista was being released. What exactly is windows "longhorn" and what ever happened to it? Wasn't vista supposed to be longhorn? But then i found some out that their making a new server OS called longhorn? This really confused me. Anyone

So when you refer to longhorn you basically refer to both vista and the new server 2008? Thats what i don't get. The story behind why are both called longhorn? lol
 
Yeah, microsoft can do much more then confuse computers, lmao.
But yeah, longhorn was the name of the project, vista is the product of that project. Hope this helps.
