WINDOWS VISTA now or should i wait

ok i have over hauled my computer getting a AMD ANTHLON 4600 Dual Core 2.4 ghz, 1 gb of ram and a new 512 mgb Video card by ati. and im jsut wondering .............is vista good at all right now to buy ? i hear soo many stories that theres problems and glitches with the operating system , so i really want to get ultimate but should i wait ,lets say 6 months or would there be no difference ? :confused:

if u can help me that would be great thanks :D
 
There is not great driver support right now, and in my experience there isn't much difference from XP to Vista. Just worse performance.
 
hmmmmm . so im guessing it works but not what u expected right? the only differnce is the windows aero programs and nifty doo dads

I like vista home premium. I would recommend it. Its just starting off so it will have issues, ive had it a month and only found one, which they made a patch for so now i have no issues! Runs great.
 
The only thing with drivers that you need to worry about is the old old ones, if your getting a new system dont worry about it. Most programs or hardware are coming out with vista specific drivers and software, so all in all if your system is 3 or so years old, id say your safe.
 
okais, bc i was planning on buying ULTIMATE soon soo iono , i jsut got ,my new parts from newegg about 2 days ago and they all say vista ready so iono i here ppl complaining about too much security, system crashing on uncompliable hardware, and it goes on soo i was a bit weary of getting it, but thanks for telling me that if u have nething else to say please tell me , bc i dont wanna buy a POS for 300 for nothing when i could later get it better :cool:

The only bit of hardware ive had problems with is my webcam, and iu was expecting that anyway seeing as it was a cheap nameless one. Other then that, everything works a treat.

I would say waiting will be a better idea because if u wait for 6 months, then there is a chance of reducing its price. And more problems with vista will be solved within that time. you no wat i mean?
 
ya true about the waiting part, but bottom line , what is the difference between Vista and 64 Bit Vista , im just kinda confused on that part really, so u guys give it thumbs up, well that makes me more confident in buying it

but just tell me whats the difference in Vista and 64 bit vista :confused:

Why not get it now and just grab updates as it goes along? I havent had my system crash/slow down once within the month ive had it. It has recognized anything ive plugged into it, security is all right, you always have the option to turn it off. I say go for it, its similar to xp, which i also have and to tell you the truth i like vista better but xp is so far along that i trust it completely, unlike when it started out. But vista seems to be better off in the beginning than xp was.
 
hmmm im glad to hear that from you , but u know the pricing also on it , do u think itll go down within 3 more months im knda of waiting for my bday also hahah but ya im more confident from what i hear from you , thanks , but i hear this a 64 bit VISTA OS whats the dif with that , ?????:confused:
 
nah, they have 32 bit x86 and they have 64 bit. I would buy the 32 bit and no, i doubt within the next 3 months the price will go down, but i am not definately sure. They are coming out with a service pack sometime soon too, so thats something to consider.

64 bit is a different version. it will only work with 64bit cpu's. most new ones (if not all new ones) are 64 bit comaptible. most people go for the 32 bit version (including me) because it has more drivers and more older programs work for it. i have had no problems in the 2 months i have been using it. id say get it
 
in my case i won't wait. because as soon as i here there's an update or some patch available i get it and install. its good to keep on the updated side. i just installed vista on my ide HD some days ago and see what software works or not
 
In my two cents...

IF all the hardware is brand new, and states it supports Vista then you are safe!

However, if you have an old inkjet printer, or old Virus software like Norton Anti virus 4.0 to 6.0, even Nero software 6.x or before it will not work on Vista!

Give you an example to clear the matter up. I sold a system to a customer yesterday who only uses her machine for word, outlook and internet. She doesn't need music or anything fancy. Her printer is a Lexmark Z715 which isn't supportive for Vista, only XP. So, she has to buy a new printer. The Norton she has is 4.0, so she had to choose from a different version.

And the Nero software for Lightscribe is only 6.0 she needs 7.x at least to be supportive.

So, if all the components are NEW... no problem. Once you try to add some old device you will run into a problem. Fortunately some HP printers will work just fine in Vista.

So, it is faster as to accessing data and programs, and the Aero is awesome to see too.

Hopefully you can use this rule of thumb to make a decision.
 
Truth be told after market hardware suppliers are not providing good drivers for most products, however, vista its self is an improvement. If you are worried about, do not get it. It will be just one more person whining about it.
 
Vista is really only an option for newer computers anyways, as older components won't work with it anyways. If they have older programs, then theres a good bet that they dont have a Core 2 Duo machine with 2GB of RAM. And if you do get Vista, get the 64bit version, as it will be supported longer and is faster than 32bit.
 
i've had vista ultimate for a few weeks now. i have had no problems hardware or driver related at all. barly anything software related either.

the only problems is the constant prompting to do stuff like allowing cds/dvds to autorun, and for other programs. but thats not too big a deal. also the higher memory usage of vista is apparent in gaming.
 
id say, get vista and turn aero off! just ram/cpu, btw even shit games are lagging when i play with aero on
i am thinkin to go back to xp since games are lagging a little more on vista than on xp even with aero on

you can turn on aero only when some1 else is beside you so you can impress him/her... only reason to turn aero on... lol
 
hahahah but the aero looks so cool, but true , who else is goin to careabout it, but also i wanna know , how do u know ur machine can support 32bit or 64 bit, ??? sorry im not that smart with computers. bc i dont wanna get the wrong things and have it work like a POS !
