I recently purchased a laptop on windows vista since then i was not happy with the operating system. Today I decided to reformat the hard drive as to put windows xp professional onto it. The only problem is that i keep recieving this error.

STOP: 0x0000007E (0xC0000005,0xF748EOBF,0xF78DA208,0xF78D9F08 )

pci.sys-address F748EOBF base at F7487000, datestamp 3b7d855c

Please Help as i am sick of windows vista and the lack of programs that will work on the system.

I recieve the error every time the windows xp pro disk loads into the actual windows xp setup process and yes i have already formatted. It also says in the blue screen error report to disable memory options such as caching or shadowing. What do u suggest

would i do this using the windows vista disk because i can not get anywhere with the xp professional disk

I have been led to believe that this is a video card issue and because this video card is made for Windows Vista Windows XP does not recognise the card therefore bringing up a blue screen error when trying to install Windows XP. The only question is what to do now.

I got the same error with a Dell notebook. I was using an old windows XP .SO I tried a new one with SP2 - same error message but slightly different no pci.sys error displayed. I went in setup and changed SATA from AHCI to ATA and problem was solved .Hope this can help some.Rgds
