I was working on a old computer i have with me and i installed a version of windows vista ultimate 64 bit with a 8mb graphic card!! It works fine and fast just like any other computer, you cant watch videos online though as it lags out a bit. It's pretty amazing how it could handle something you didnt think it could.
The old computer also has 512MB ram thats 2x 256MB SD Ram Cards, a really dusty motherboard and the fans and cpu is half broke/ nearly stopped working...

Works like a charm, besides not compatible with any gaming, media such as videos online etc..

Pretty cool huh? :D

i didnt think it could handle or manage to even start the installation of windows vista ultimate. - maybe ill try putting Windows 7 sometime haha...

Does Aero work on it? :P

Actualy windows 7 will probably run even nicer than Vista :P

Nice chrisalv14!

You see...this is what I keep telling to most of the people.I always say that you do not need 256 MB graphic card,3 ghz and 2 GB of RAM just to even run Vista, but those morons who always insolts "us" always says that "we" are saying bullshit, that "we" are lying, that "we" are making all this up blablablabla. And watch this! Those "morons" who use Vista and have 4 GB of RAM,512 MB graphic card and at least 3 ghz, they say that their Vista desktop lags and that upgrading to 8 GB of RAM or more will fix it!HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!And "that kind" of people insolt "us".ROFL!!!
Thank God I have never seen that kind of people on this forum, but on our stupid Croatian forum, all you see are comments like "Upgrading to 8 GB of RAM or more will make your Windows desktop not to lag.". LOOOOOOOL!!!

vista is a resource hogg-i had 4gig of ram and visat would use 1.5gig in idle state

obviously it can only use a percentage of the resources it has at its desposal, but even though that pc runs it it wont run it as well as mine

i think if someone asked me if windows vista would run on the spec of that pc my words of advice would be "dont even try-just use xp"...

its fine saying it works now, but will it work after a few months? -you know when your hard drive gets full of temporary internet files etc!!

Lol true but we can delete internet files?

yes you can but at the end of the day vista has minimum requirements for a reason, as soon as you start using this pc for day to day computing it would end up as usefull as my little solar powered calculator

Lol yes but we could just do a fresh install again when everything starts going down hill.

sue microsoft for lying about minimum requirements =)

Ok, here's the facts.

Vista ran great on 1.5gb of ram (P4 3ghz x700 Pro)

Vista ran nicely on 1gb of ram (Celeron 1.8ghz integrated)

Vista ran decently on 512mb ram (Sempron 3000 integrated)

Yes, it uses lots of ram at idle if your computer has lots of ram. It's called pre-fetching. But I can promise you this, if your computer had 1gb of ram it would be using ~500mb @ idle.

as for needing 8 gigs of ram..are you kidding me? There is no use for that unless your doing intense professional work or some of the latest and demanding games. I didn't even notice the change when I upped mine to 8 gigs, except maybe Crysis plays a smidge better.

I totally agree with you.But those morons on stupid Croatian forum says that you need to upgrade to 4 or even 8 GB of RAM to prevent "Windows desktop" from lagging. They say that Windows wont work "at all" if you dont have 4 GB of RAM or more.ROFL!!!!!!!!!!!!!Man we are sorrounded with neanderthals xD

well personaly i wouldnt go lower than 1gig of ram but im sure as hell that you dont "need" 4 gig of ram....

Of course you don't need 4 GB of RAM,but say that to those morons on the Croatian forum who insolt you as soon as you say anything they dont understand.By the way I am Croatian so now just imaginate how I feel hahahahaha!!!
