Windows vista very slow

My laptop is 10 years old with original windows vista (CD) .
Toshiba , 2 GB RAM .
No viruses no malware.....
always updated and has anti virus too.
But that is very slow, specially when I run browser. ?

2GB of RAM gets eaten up pretty quickly these days. What kind of utilization do you see in task manager?

I got a lot of extra use out of my ancient gateway MX6959 by switching to a lighter weight Linux distribution.

Also keep in mind that support for vista ends this coming April.

Do you mean to switch vista to Ubuntu Linux. ?
Can you tell me which version is petty light? (Linux)

You'll need at least 4gb of ram to run that Vista OS efficiently. If upgrading memory isn't feasible then it's time for a new laptop.

Run something like SuperAntiSpyware and see if it picks up anything. It's pretty good at snagging junky programs that might be slowing you down. 4GB of RAM is advised too, although I'd suggest a new laptop entirely.

You need to backup your comments with some sort of reasoning. Advising somebody to install XP in 2016 is downright foolish except for very certain usages. Especially as a downgrade from Vista.
