Windows Vista

I have the Windows Vista in my laptop. My question is -- is XP better, or is Vista better? What advantages and disadvantages does those two operating systems have?

Thanks,

J.

Future games require DX10, only vista supports this. XP's patch doesnt really count. Vista still has some rough edges, but i personally can see the light at the end of the tunnel with it. Everybody is used to XP, and when something like it runs fine, most people are hesitant to a change.

I prefer XP for the time being..... still waiting to put Vista on my current rig.... I have Vista on a different rig though.... Vista doesnt have as much support. There are hardly ANY DX10 games out yet, and IMO Vista' intereface is more difficult for the average user....

So, my advice? Just wait a year

It really depends on the user and what you use the computer for. For the average home user, Vista may work fine and look cool. However i've used both many times but I still prefer XP.

is there really any fan-boying when its the same company? lol i am truly suprised we are still having the vista vs XP arguement when vista was supposed to be better then XP off the starting block. btw i prefer vista, like omega said it looks vivid and crisp, and doesnt give you only the choice between nasty blue and green start bar and blah silver one, and nobody even considers OLIVE... and there are also lots of nifty features too. i personally use the notepad feature on windows sidebar a LOT, its just so simple and elegant too

Like I said, for regular users such as you Vista is fine, however I have grow accustomed to XP so whenever I want to make a tweak or change certain networking settings, I know exactly where it is in XP. My sound card drivers are also much more stable under XP.

IMO this is getting old. This has to be like the 100th post on the same dang thing people please use the search feature... There will always be people who hate and people who love vista its your own personal choice just use vista and play with it. Its the future xp is the past but microsoft has announced to continue suppor til like 2013 or something so you are ok there if you wanted xp. Personally i like vista i have had it since november last year and have yet to have a problem with it. All that will be included in SP1 for vista is all the dang updats they have put out since last november thats it so those waiting on a service pack you are not going to save much they have said that in their press releases...

IMO vista is better then xp. Not because it is physically better, but has much more potential. While xp is lean (in comparision) it is also obsolete. Programs will be released with vista support and will be lacking in xp.
Future proof, buy vista.
