Okay so i wanna get a genuine copy of windows xp.

But according to the Microsoft wiebsite it has to be acctivated, fine ill do that.

but whats disturbing me big time, and soz if it has already been posted but

Would i need to activate the copy of windows xp if i change my
-cpu
-Gfx Card
-Motherboard

Well when you get to the part where you want to activate it. There are options. I believe its over the internet, modem, phone, etc. You can the phone method and call them up to tell them your story. If you are the original person who registered the previous setup, they may give you another number or make your key pass.
 
On reactivating Windows XP after a major hardware change you can often use the wizard that appears once your original registration has been submitted to reactivate as long as you have IE connection. Or you can call a toll free number where instructions are given for this. Of the three items listed here as being changed the only one requiring that would be the swap out of mother boards due to a possible need to reinstall Windows. This would remove softwares/drivers for the old board for installation of the new. If you do have to reactivate just follow the onscreen instructions. It goes quick even if you have to call somebody at Microsoft.

i didnt understand the last half about of the three items listed here etc
 
If you have to reinstall Windows due to a change of boards you would also have to reactivate Windows before the 30day time limit expires or perform another reinstallation. A prompt will appear periodically as a reminder to activate your copy of Windows. The process has been simplified so that people will use the product activation. If you have already registared your copy of Windows simply choose the "registar later" option or call the toll free 1-800 number seen at that time. An operator will give you instructions there to enter a command and read off the number that appears. You will then be given a new number to type in at the prompt.

There is an alternative method to avoid the need for reactivation by changing the name on the current product id number known as the "wpa.dbl" by first adding new file type "dbl" to locate that and the "wpa.bak" file for copy to a floppy disk. You won't find it that hard to get a new copy activated. If you can post a new thread like this one you'll be on your way in no time. The article there is for reference mainly. If you don't have internet connection on a system then you would simply call the 1-800 number they provide.

That's not the "case" at all! You can swap out hardwares at anytime. But you simply would reactivate if there is a need for reinstalling Windows after a major hardware change such as installing with a new board or installing to a larger drive you add to the system. You could easily swap out a cpu or memory, video and sound cards, and even even optical drives without ever even seeing a need to reinstall XP. I;ve already made some major changes and reactivated Windows with ease. The idea behind product activation is not to make your life miserable but to prevent piracy of software.

When a dealer sells a new system a recover or full installation disk is assigned to that system alone. That disk stays with that system no matter how many times you upgrade or swap hardwares. When you swap out hardwares you simply go back to Microsoft to reactivate. It's that simple.
 
As PC Eye said, you can replace most parts without needing to active again, but if you install a new motherboard or hard drive, you most likely will have to re-install, therefor needing to re-activate.

That is a way to go around a built in security feature of Xp. Its a crack. Id suggest removeing it(ive go.

In order to even see the wpa.dbl file you still have to add the "dbl" to the file types in order to even see it. You add that by going to the folders option in any window you open like Windows Explorer, MyComputer, etc. where the tools option is seen on the explorer bar at the top of the window itself. The third tab is named "file types" which simplifies that.
