this may be a dumb question but i was wondereing if windows will work normally if I don't have a video card. The asus A8N deluxe doesn't have onbaord video, but i'll get a xfx 7800 gt video card a week later, just wondering...

Well, it pretty much has to have onboard video. Just enable it in the bios, and then load up the computer. I dont see why that wouldnt work. And I dont see how its possible to have a mobo with out intigrated video, although, im not sure..

and if it doesn't, then it doesnt. not all mobos have to have onboard video.

IT would work if you could get past POST. Some machines require you to press F1 or maybe even go into the CMOS if there's no video. But yeah, it should work, just don't expect to see anything ;)

I've run some machines without video cards before, servers and such. Just console into them, but I'm sure you would want more than that...

Basicly if you have a place to plug your monitor, than you have somesort of a graphic card. And since you don't have onboard in A8N deluxe or your graphics card, you don't have anywhere to plug your monitor! So I don't think you'll get far without buying that video card.

strangely the cheap ones comes with onboard and the nices ones dont :D
I don't want some cheap cruddy video card on my system I'll never use... I'd rather have no onboard crap, sound, firewire, video...anything if I could avoid it... If I need it, I'll throw a card in there. That's what old freebee PCI video cards are for ;P

My old board, an Abit KT7A, only had the basics on the back. No NIC, sound, video, firewire, ANYTHING. It was perhaps the last board that was really like this, and probably the last one that used SDRAM. I miss that board :(
