Windows X64 or XP Pro?

Hey, I'm going to start a new build soon and I've been looking at my choices for operating systems. I've heard a few positive comments about X64, but a lot of them are negative. If I went with XP Pro on a dual core machine, would I be limited to what I can do? Would programs/applications not work correctly? I'm afraid of buying XP Pro for an AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800 and it end up not working correctly with my programs. The build is going to be mostly for gaming.

Currently the only major difference is that alot of drivers and programs wont run on it. For your purposes, i'd go with XP pro.

Alot of the positive posts were negative?

I was going to start a thread on this, as i was debating whether upgrading to x64 would be worth it or not.

i personally wouldn't go for xp64 right now because i believe there's still some trouble with 64-bit drivers and program compatibility.
its feasable if you're sure you can get all of the drivers but i would personally wait until there is more widespread support for it
