Windows x64 .... whats this OS about, I heard its made to run better with AMD 64 CPUs. For the true bit. Im thinking of getting it for my gaming system, well, I am getting it until I hear otherwise. Anyone?

if u want windows x64.. basically your whole pc have to be compatible.

so a good way to approach that is to rebuild a new system, or update.. etc.. and oh, most softwres now doesn't support x64 yet.. most of them are still 32 bit.. so ur game might not even work..

check if your hardware has 64bit support. if you run windowsx64 it has a emulator that runs 32bit programs. However you need 64bit drivers which sometimes manufacturers don't make.

Thats gonna be tough thought. I don't think manufacturers won't have these hardware pieces out for a while. That goes for software organisations too.

I've had nothing but problems with it, to be honest.

I've not tried it except when it was beta and I had trouble getting allot of games to install, remember though it was a beta. One problem you'll have possibly is the driver issue with some products as already suggested. Also I don't think you will notice speed improvements but I don't know that for a fact. Honestly though if you already have your OS of choice in a 32-bit form I recommend keeping it.

I would wait another few months before maling the switch, it takes a long time to get things going and working right and to sort out the bugs, maybe january? beucase the holidays will have passed where lots of people will have gotten new PC stuff and more likly to get 64bit windows, so maybe they will develope more drivers for it.

I have xp64. You can still run almost all 32 bit applications through by the use of the 32 bit emulator, which is built into xp64 for smooth intergration from 32 bit to 64 bit. There are some softwares like daemon tools that don't support windows 64 bit as of yet( but will in the next version)- however there is another mounting software such as fdisk. My suggestion for you is to wait for more softwares to support the xp64 before building a whole new system. That might take more time. So wait out a year or so for softwares to come out and also for the price decrease of 64 bit processors.
