Windows xp doesnt come supported with ahci drivers so is there anyway to install ahci drivers after you installed xp,

As when i try to select ahci from the bios it cant boot up xp keeps restarting pc

No. You need to install XP with an AHCI driver. You cannot install it after the fact.

To do so, you must create a floppy with the AHCI driver on it and press F6 upon installation startup, and then choose the AHCI driver when the page comes up.

The alternative is to slipstream the AHCI driver to an XP CD using nLite.

Slipstream an AHCI driver to XP CD-ROM disk.

By the way if everything works fine when in BIOS it is compatibility mode selected, why changing it to AHCI?

Trust me you do not need anything more than IDE which is that COMPATIBILITY mode unless if you are doing God knows what or running servers.

I use IDE all the time anyway.

And in my case I actually experienced worse performance on my desktop with AHCI enabled.
