Looking for [Title], anyone know where i can download it? I've searched high and low and found only 1 very slow and not so good source.

And why do you think that is?

4W4K3 said:
To my knowledge this is a completely freeware/open source OS, so please don't lock this thread.

You should know better.

Basically a stripped down version of Windows XP

...accept this isn't a Windows.

k hehe ^^

and it runs REALLY fast. All the normal XP BS that they put in the original OS has been removed

My os prolly runs quite abit faster, and I don't have any extra "BS" I don't personally need.

This is XP "Barely Naked", which isn't available through M$, and has no dealing with the Windows line of products. If M$ had any dealings with this product, there would be validation or authentification in the install process, just like all the rest of there products (there isn't any). They would also have this available at a retail price, and it would be advertised just like the rest of their OS's (which it isn't). You might also find any information on the M$ website dealing with this "version" of Windows (but you can't).

4W4K3 said:
it still works with all M$'s hot fixes/updates from their site, so ther shouldn't be any MORE security holes than normal XP.

Humor. :D

If have the option to do it all myself, and possibly make mistakes and get bad results...

So am i correct in thinking that this is a stripped down copy of Windows XP, cool and for free.

Free maybe, legal no.

Again your talking about an altered version of Microsoft Windows, illegal.

except without all the fancy stuff that no one really needs. i can't exactly say how it was made in detail and all that, since i didn't create it, but i know that if it was in any way tied with M$ they would have there grubby hands all over it by now.

So basically Microsofts Windows XP, legal to alter as you please and then put up for people to download for free? Cool!

Why is it that so many thinks MS Windows XP must be all cluttered up, run slow and be a general pain?

Heres my XP desk, the visible stuff that is, (which really doesn't matter as opposite to the under hood work).

BTW it's 'MS' which is short for Microsoft. M$? Try and act seventeen.

then it is windows xp code, which microsoft owns and therefore is completely illegal.
lack of activation means its either corporate edition derived or its completely hacked.
therefore this thread should be closed.

This thread has gone on for too long.

4W4K3, you know better than to talk about questionable material...

its a modded version..... made for schools and such, they only left whats nessicary for the system to run on the OS, the took out sooooo much of the pretty stuff
Funny. Schools use licensed academic editions.....

So is it actually windows XP as made by M$ for free?
No.

i can also make a readme file that says i took xp, modified it and now distributed it all over the net as freeware and its perfectly legal
You want to try that in court? ;)

...accept this isn't a Windows
Yes but by the same token, if i take your homework and change the name on it to mine and "strip down" the excess stuff... does that make it mine? Of course not.

If M$ had any dealings with this product, there would be validation or authentification in the install process, just like all the rest of there products (there isn't any).
So does that mean a warez copy of windows which doesnt have any authentication process has nothing to do with MS? How about the legit corporate editions MS sells?

its made to look and act just like windows XP, except without all the fancy stuff that no one really needs.
Made? Or hacked-down? There's an important distinction there

Learn how to tweak.
We both know thats a flawed counterargument -- by that logic a chef could say to most people "learn how to cook" or a teacher could say "learn to think" -- please.

BTW it's 'MS' which is short for Microsoft. M$? Try and act seventeen.
wth? If you want to be the language police there's a lot more serious infraction than M$.
