Hi I am having a problem with my older computer. When I start it up, windows xp begins to load (the loading screen appears for a second) and immediately after it shows a blue screen for half a second and restarts. This happens also with safe mode and all the other options.
I did some research on the problem and from other forums I found that it may be a hardware problem (the RAM) or corrupted windows file. I changed the RAM with 3 different sticks and it did the same thing. Then I changed the hard drive with another working hard drive with win xp and everything. But it did the same thing. Then I tried to boot with another hard drive with win 95 but it gave me an error "Initializing device IOS:" "Windows protection error" and then I had to restart.
I tried booting Linux from a CD and it booted normally. I can use Linux running from the CD drive and can access everything (hard drive etc...). So I don't think it is a hardware problem. Anyone could help? Thanks and sorry for the long post.
