windows xp boot problem...

when i boot up and try to get into xp pro i get an error saying "the file is either corrupted or missing: /windows/system32/config/system" how could i fix this? thanks
 
i have even installed xp on my other hard disk...boot that up, works fine, copied the file from the new install to the old and still doesn't boot up?
 
Is this the first time you are trying to get into WIN XP PRO? Is this a new computer?

anyway... right when the computer starts press F8 to get into the advanced options menu and select the option that says "Last Known Good Configuration"
 
Or try booting from the Winxp CD and get into Recovery Console. From there you can run chkdsk which should fix up your problems.:)
