Windows XP disc used more that once?

I wanna reformat my computer, but I don't have the original disc for Windows XP Home Edition,, it just kinda came with the computer. But I have a friend who says I can just use his disc. He's already used it, product key and all, and I'm wondering if I'll be able to use it too with out it going "sorry, this copy of windows XP has already been initiated on another computer" or something.

(ps- I'm still learning about computers so be kind if I'm asking a dumbass question)
 
No you can not use it. Unless you've got a different serial number on your computer. Maybe a WinXP serial sticker underneath or on the back of your computer, then you can use his CD. but you cant use his serial. It'll come up with that message you were talking about.
 
holy man,, thank god you talked about a serial number on the back or the bottom of the computer. I love you. I looked on the bottom and TA-DA! there was a label for "Windows XP Home Edition Product Key" so YES! YES YES YES MY COMPUTER IS SAVED AND IT'S ALL THANKS TO YOOOOOU, LAPTOPEXTREME!!!

Sounds more like a 7 year old than a 17 year old... You can also get your existing key from the registry or byy using one of the 1000 XP key grabbers

Sound like a 3 year old rather then a 23 year old... All I have to ask is "WHY?" Man I hate unnecessary BS comments.

If I remember Jerkstore this is not the first BS comment I have read by you. Perhaps an admin or moderator needs a heads up? Jerkstore by the way is a perfect nick for you. I'll not be going into your store anytime soon.

Try to ignore his comment. It is not the opinion of everyone here. Jerkstore I have a feeling is heading for banishment if he is to continue with the attitude I'm sure.
