windows xp drivers

I'd use the service tag first provided it is still stock.
I have used several of those driver utility programs awhile back just to play with them and all of them got some of it wrong.
They would tell me that my drivers were outdated when I had the most current ones installed.
Sometimes the "outdated" driver was the same one they were wanting me to install.

I think I've found the service tag, a seven character identifier with a bar code, there is also a ten character tag, maybe that's the express service tag

Personally i wouldn't use the Dell drivers. They're probably out of date. Things like intel, realtek, nvidia, and other similar, you should go to the actual manufacture site.

Considering it is an OptiPlex GX260 (old) running XP the Dell drivers should be fine, it's not like it is a current high-end gaming machine.

True, but the dell intel chipset drivers are from 2002, not 2014, the audio drivers on the manufacturers website are 10 years newer, and the LAN driver is 10 years old (intel).

I reiterate, intel drivers, and audio drivers, its important to get the latest.
