File > Save as... > change Save as Type to All Files > and save as: fix.reg.
Run that file (double click ) > accept > restart computer.

read about the root directory and have tryed saving the autorun.inf file in particion d and it said file already exists and is a readme file so i cant save it whay do i do

I'm not to sure if this will help but look at the file extension for the picture it displays on the other two such as a picture maybe paint.jpg and if any of the letters in the .jpg are off it will throw it off just an idea

tried the start run REGSVR32 shell32.dll and the other one and it said sucessful but it hasny chaged anythingstill displayingthat image

i Partitioned it when i installed the os using windows to formate each part of the drive. it worked when i first had it partitioned it dunno what has happened:confused:

I'd check for viruses/spyware. It's odd to say, but a friend had a problem like that, exept it was all the icons. It ended up being a virus.

although, you could run a scan to repair corrupt files.

Start>Run
sfc /scannow

well if it works on a guest, and if all the explanation provided did not work, just switch to another account....what more can we say

well, im pretty sure it wont help, but have you run a "chkdsk /f" from cmd prompt yet, also if you have your XP disc you used to install the OS with handy, pop it in the drive, open up a command prompt and type "sfc.exe /scannow" let it run.

Theres nto a lot more we can say, its obviously just windows has got itself into a bit of a pinic and is a bit confused, you could try a system restore, did you say it was a new install of XP or what? if it is that would be a bit useless, lol.

If your on an admin account right now, just set up a new account with admin rights. Copy all your documents over, make sure your applications are all the same, then delete the other account. A bit of a pain as you lose almost every setting you changed on your old account... Isn't there a utility in WinXP to transfer them?? files and Settings Transfer Wizard or something??? never used it before
