Hi,
I'm running Windows XP Professional Edition with SP3 installed. I have recently had some trouble with this operating system & had to use the original windows cd to recover my operating system. I now find that every time I try to open a windows folder it tries to open the windows installer but after a long wait it does eventually open that folder. Please can someone advise on how to fix this?
Thanks in advance.

You have a corrupt install. Reinstall windows. If you have a pre sp3 install cd then you should slipstream sp3 into a new install cd. You can do this using a program called autostreamer or nlite.

Thanks for taking the time to advise. Is there any other way to fix this as I really don't want to loose my current operating system?

If you have another HDD, put that into the computer as the Primary Master, and keep the corrupt os as a slave, then install XP onto the new HDD, and then once its on, copy your files over.
