Windows XP Home installation Question

ok i want to reload windows but dont want to lose my personal files like music, videos and documents i have no real way of back up right now so i have a question when i put in my xp cd i have 2 options one is upgrade and one is new installation..i did upgrade a few days ago and my pc has been running weird ever since thats why im looking for a more clean install...if i choose new installtion will it just delete my system files and programs or will it also delete all the stuff i want to keep please get back to me asap

Yes everything will be deleted with new install. You can create a small partition and put all your backup file on one partition. THen format the other one and install an OS. Use partition magic free version.

Usually when you upgrade, your files will stay in the profile you had before and most of your stuff should still be there. Now that you want to have a new clean install, it'll most likely remove everything unless u partition it and install it on a new partition.

Backup all ur data you want to keep if u are planning a new clean installation.

EDIT: minute too slow. same thing stated by Trizoy.

Actually, you can re run setup from the installation CD via boot, and still maintain your files. You can use the setup CD to wipe your Windows install and start afresh, while moving Documents and Settings to Documents and Settings.000.
