Windows XP install on a new HD

hey i just got my new harddrive, and popped it in my laptop (inspiron 8500) w/ the windows disk in, the setup came up and asked me if i want to install windows on the "currently selected partition" or on a new partition. the currently selected partition, as far as i can tell, is "unpartitioned space". it's a brand new blank Hitachi 60gig harddrive.
what do i do with partitions?

u need to CREATE a partition. are u trying to install windows onto the new drive and it is already on ur old drive? if so, then why? if u got the new hd just for space, u need to format it to work with ur comp and then thats it.

You have to create a partition. If you read the Instructions displayed on the screen It'll take you through the process.
