I have an old 1.8ghz Duron system w/ 512 mbs of PC2100 memory. Could this system run XP home in a stable, non 15 hour loading time environment? Otherwise where can I get a copy of windows 98?

Could this system run XP home in a stable......
Yes.

Don't expect it to be a screamer at games or anything else, but for normal duties it'll work just fine.

Windows 98 ??? It's not a supported OS anymore so any issues you have will be tricky to solve .. perhaps.

Incase google eludes you:

PC with 300 megahertz (MHz) or higher processor clock speed recommended; 233-MHz minimum required;* Intel Pentium/Celeron family, AMD K6/Athlon/Duron family, or compatible processor recommended

128 megabytes (MB) of RAM or higher recommended (64 MB minimum supported; may limit performance and some features)

1.5 gigabyte (GB) of available hard disk space.*

Super VGA (800 × 600) or higher resolution video adapter and monitor

CD-ROM or DVD drive

Keyboard and Microsoft Mouse or compatible pointing device

(win xp home)

HAHA, yea this will definetly run xp...
I've got an ol' HP pentium 2, with 128megs of ram and it runs it fine for some word proccessing and interent surfing (my dad uses it ;) )

Sorry for using this forum for what it was meant Other_One. I couldn't run XP on a system w/ the same specs as Travo's. So I thought I might just make sure, get some opinions...
