ok im new to all this and i suck at computers.last night i was doin a few things.i downloaded AIM 7,reloaded my webcam drivers.and turned off my computer.it turned off but did an automatic windows update first.i went to sleep and about 3 hours later turned the laptop back on.it loaded up and i got on AIM and created a screen name but decided to cook dinner.turned the laptop off (properly shuting it down) and went for dinner.about an hour later fired the computer back up. but this time is whn i started haveing preoblems. everything boots up slower than usual and it gets to my password to log into windows XP.i put in the password,,,,,it is the correct password no doubt havent changed it in 4 years. and when i hit enter this is the message i get. " the system cannot log you on now because domain DC9KG071 is not available" ok first of my service tag on the computer is C9KG071 so i was like what the hell.tryed turning off and back on multiple times,,,same message. so i said ok,safe mode. but when i try to boot up in safe mode same thing.it asks for password and gives the same message.so now what the hell do i do?cuz i am so about to break this thing in half.and the warranty jus expired help please!! p.s. the laptop is a dell inspiron 600m.

Just in case you are trying the Administrator account in Safe Mode I hope?

Anyway, sorry but support on how to find your Windows password is not allowed here
But I will recommend that you use a spell checker if you are going to ask else where (ie another forum)
Plus it would be a good idea to space out your big paragraph, to make it much easier to read

Good luck ;)

There's also reason why you want more than one login with a admin account.
i have 3 for backup's . its a back door to delete the other.

no its not that.my password is right. 100% no doubt rite.thats y i dont understand what its doin.it wnt let me access at all.am i gona have to wipe the hard drive?

Start the computer in Safe Mode and use the administrator account, to change your password, go into the "run" command and type in "control useraccounts2". That should let you change the password without asking for the current one.

system cannot log you on now because domain DC9KG071 is not available.

Im starting to wonder if people actually read in this forum, windows is not giving him the incorrect password error, its saying that the domain is missing.

Try booting into safe mode, using the admin account remove the password on yours, also try making a new test account and see if that works.

Are you using the classic login screen or xp where you click the account.

Also why shut your laptop off 30 times a day instead of just leaving it on and letting it go to standby.

cool thnxyea tht was kinda wht i was trying to get at.i may not kno much about computers but i know when i put in the wrong password it gives me a different screen than this "domain error" screen. i cant get into safe mode.it still asks for password and gives the same screen.and without bein able to get in safe mode i have no clue how to wipe the hard drive to start new.anyone???

Alright, well first you will need an os disc, most likely if you still have it dell provides a few. If you have the os disc from dell then just pop that into your drive and boot from it and it should be pretty simple to go from there. If you dont have a disc you will need to find a friend with another dell disc, or call them and see if they will send you one
