try right clicking each ".inf" file and click install

yeah, that's what I did. rebooted and... Nothing happened.

hmmm, well it was worth a shot. If you have an older SP2 disc, install that then just download SP3...

When your device manager says "PCI Device" and you have no sound, the UAA driver is usually the culprit which was a problem with almost every early release of SP3.
