alrighty, let me get started...

currently i have windows xp home edition in my computer that my friend installed as a temporary OS until i could afford my own copy of Windows Xp. I finally got money to buy my own copy, its OEM, and i need to know how to format my c drive. i bought the OEM cause it was much cheaper than retail was, but in turn may have ****ed me over in actually installing this new windows, im not totally sure.

if you guys could help me step by step, commands and whatever it is i need to do, that would be off the chain

When you boot off of the Windows XP CD, it should give you the option to create partitions, there you can also reformat your hard drive.

Is it the full version or upgrade?

Exactly.

1. Backup all important data
2. Make sure the CD-Rom is set to first boot priority in the BIOS
3. Boot off the XP CD
4. Press F6 only if you need to install SATA/RAID drivers
5. Accept licence agreement
6. Select the drive to install onto, and select format when prompted

The installation should proceed smoothly from there.

the methods provided aren't working, i set up bios to boot priority to CD ROM, floppy, and hard disk, and still does not give me any options on installing the windows. the disk is in my cd rom and i dont know what to do, please help if you know anything about my situation. also if it helps, this is the version i bought -

Put the cd in the cd drive reboot the computer. As your computer begins booting, press the F12 key repeatedly and see if that gives you a boot menu. (depends how new your computer is and who made it). Some manufacturers will give you a boot menu by pressing the ESC key as well. From the menu you can use your arrow keys to select your cd drive, then press Enter to boot to it.

ill try, if it helps also, its not a Manufactured computer, my friend built it for me on New Egg and is about 1 year old.
