hi i dont know why but the other day my pc would not shut down it went to the blue screen and said windows is shutting down but it just stayed like that and ever since then it does the same thing ,i know its not installing updates and the only thing i have put on the pc lately is the hitman demo from gamespot please help because i dont like having to force the pc to shutdown
by holding in the power button

Holding down the power button is OK.

The computer is basically frozen. It is your only option.
If it happens a lot, you may have other problems.

It seems like a program isn't terminating.
You can try a system defrag and maybe a registry cleaner.

You can also check for errors with an Antivirus tool or through your PC.
Right click on your C: drive>Tools>Check Error.
You will have to restart.. I dont know if manually turning it off like that will make it run the next time you start it.. but worth a try.

when you shut down do any program shut down messages come up, as this might determine what is causing the shut down to stop

e.g. blah blah blah is shutting down end prgram or cancel and let it terminat itself

have you tried hibernating it instead of shutting down
