Windows XP startup Password

Hi all,

A "friend" let one of these phone companies into their PC and, having cleared the viruses from it, I'm now left with the image above.

I've scanned with Combofix, MBAM and MSE. The above appears before the windows logon icons.

A password has to be entered each time, which he knows, but I cant get rid of it. Any suggestions please?

I found a fix but would like to keep this thread open in case anyone else has any suggestions.

I done a system restore back a few days, prior to him getting the phone call, and then scanned the system with the tools above to ensure it was clean.

Further to the post above, once the password had been entered, the system was fine. All viruses had gone I just couldnt get rid of the password box.

After something like that I would have backed up and re-installed cause you never know what they did or installed that the computer is not picking up.

The box is prior to the userpasswords box.

i.e., put in the password in this box, it then takes you to the logon screen which is the passwords you are talking about, is it not?
