windows xp verification

Gentlemen,

I will be moving my hard drive with XP sp3 on it to a completely new motherboard and other peripherals.

Will I have any issues with windows authentication or whatever?

Yes...you will have to reload Windows when you change what motherboard the hard drive and Windows is currently running on.

You can do a complete reinstall.

Did the XP come as an OEM? Was it pre installed when you got the first machine?

I installed it myself. Bought xp pro sp3 some years ago and now am updating my mb.

My experience has been in the past.
If you change motherboard or video card you will have to call for a new key. They have always given me a key for the retail ver. and deactivated the 1st. If its the same then there should be no changes. just same.

The reason I asked is that OEMs are only good for the original system it came with. I haven't tried what Tremmor suggested though. Now I know it's possible.

You can change video card and not have to reactivate, I've done it. A major hardware change would make the reactivation come up, like changing video card, sound card, processor all at once.
