Windows XP/Vista Hibernation

Ok so I am going to be building my own gaming desktop in summer 08 and am going to have both XP and Vista on it. I wouldn't dare to only use Vista. ;) Basically my question is does both XP and Vista have a hibernation optio on desktops? As in pretty much shutting everything off. On my laptop I have XP and whenever I put it into hibernate is shuts it off but then when I go back on the computer it brings me to the login screen quickly so I don't have to reboot the system. That is what I am asking if desktops support that kind of hibernation with XP and Vista. Thanks!

yes both do, however, i seem to notice that on vista they really improved the stand-by so much i dont think it uses the processor. (well at least my fan does not come on.) but yes both do

Ok great but how would I put the desktop computer into hibernate? Jut push in the power button, right?

I basically want this because I don't want to hear my computer on all night and that it's a waste of power to keep it on all day.

well i think you can setup it up to be the power button.
else
windows xp, start turn off comp, hold shift and go to the standby button which is now hybernate
vista start, arrow next to lock, hibernate

i never had that problem. the only problem i had was you can turn off the hibernation feature by doing a clean up. but you can get it back

like i said, it is better in vista to do a stand-by (and easer)
